Knoll Furniture 1938-1960. Authors: Steven & Linda Rouland. This is the second printing of Knoll Furniture 1938-1960. It has a new cover and an updated 'price guide'. Other than these two changes this book is identical to the first printing. The publisher calls this a second edition which it clearly is not. The cover is less offensive than the one used previously but the book still retains Schiffer's signature marbled end papers. This is, nevertheless, a useful reference as virtually all of the illustrations are from contemporary brochures and adverts. It's a shame it does not have a proper index. Hard bound with dust wrappers. 160 pages illustrated in black & white with some colour. 22cm w x 29cm h. £30. |

The World of Bertoia. Compiled by Val Bertoia and Nancy Schiffer. A visual reference on the work of Harry Bertoia - artist, sculptor and furniture designer and his son, Val. Supplemented by anecdotes and period quotes from Bertoia's contemporaries. This is a nice book with lots and lots of pictures (500 in colour and 200 in black & white apparently). Breaking with a Schiffer tradition, there is no price guide and a close-up of what appears to be a Bertoia sculpture has supplanted marbled end papers. 270 pages. Hard bound with dust wrapper. 23cm w x 31cm h. £65. |
